March is Termite Awareness Month

Termites work silently, but the damage speaks volumes.

Termites can cause severe damage before you even notice them. Stay informed to protect your home before an infestation happens.

Why Are Termites a Threat?

Termites feed on wood and cellulose materials, making homes a prime target. They can weaken structures from the inside out, often undetected for years. The main types include Subterranean, Drywood, and Dampwood Termites.

Signs of an Infestation

Early detection helps prevent damage and costly repairs. Watch for these warning signs:

  • Mud tubes on walls or foundations

  • Hollow-sounding wood

  • Discarded wings near windows and doors

  • Frass (tiny wood pellet-like droppings)

  • Buckling floors or ceilings

Keeping Termites Away

To prevent termites, eliminate moisture by fixing leaks and improving drainage, seal entry points by closing gaps in the foundation and around pipes, keep wood off the ground and away from your home, and schedule regular inspections so professionals can catch early signs before major damage occurs.
